Been a while since I posted anything, striking politics from this blog sort of left a hole for topics that is sometimes hard to fill.

Let’s face it, unless your rich, buying parts, planning and actually putting anything together takes time, and that time generally gets filled with other mundane daily life issues that really aren’t very interesting to read about.

A few posts ago I mentioned that I had ordered a Rack and Pinion Steering from Unisteer set up for the Monte Carlo, which of course it is still sitting in it’s plastic wrap, waiting on installation.

As I wait on the actual installation phase to start, I also started to look at some additional upgrades for  the front suspension.

About the only thing left at this point after putting the Hotchkis and PST stuff in is upper and lower control arms, front spindles, and possibly converting to a coil over adjustable shock arrangement.

In case you’ve lost track, It’s been 16 months in the making for this front suspension and it’s not done yet, but slow and steady wins the race.  I made a vow when I bought this car that it would be everything I have always wanted it to be.

There’s a mishmash of parts piled up in my basement, everything from heads, to seats, and it’s all just part of the project, stockpiling planning and then putting it all together.

Anyhow, it looks as if BMR Fabrication will be my choice for this, and I will start to order these parts soon, I might as well finish up this front end while I have it apart to do the Rack and Pinion Installation.

And just to remember the poor Monte that still waits patiently for the new stuff…

Looking at the headlines and the Automakers Bailout news lately makes me laugh, it really does.

I browse through different forums and chuckle at the idiocy on display out there, “Its the Big 3′s CEO’s! It’s Mis-management!!”
Uh huh….surrrrrre it is.

Reliance on OPEC Oil, The UAW / Unions, and Political skulduggery from the Democrats combined into a “perfect storm” that has now brought the Big Three Automakers to their knees. It has NOTHING to do with management of these companies.

Does anyone reading this REALLY believe charlatans like Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, etc when they spout this nonsense about the Big Three (Chrysler, GM, & Ford) being out of touch with the consumer? That the car-makers are solely to blame for their own demise? That they need to re-tool and be more competitive? Horse-feathers!

Screaming because CEO of some of the biggest companies on the face of the planet used a corporate jet…Please spare me people. Who the fuck cares how they got to D.C. ?

And Oh by the way Nancy Pelosi you communistic Botox injected harpy…., next time I see your ass on a private jet or in a god damn gas guzzling SUV being whisked around DC I’m gonna call you on it….you stupid pandering bitch. Your ass better be in a god damn Pirus ….Dirty Harry Ried…same goes for you…pussy boy.

Fact: GM sold just as many cars as Toyota last year. No one wants these cars from GM? Really??….yeah right Unicorns really DO exist.

Fact: “The auto makers need to Re-tool”!! Is nothing more than political double speak for “We the government are going to force Detroit to make green cars”, period.

Here are some other points to consider when trying to make an informed choice on whether or not the “bail out of the big three” is a the right thing to do. For the record, due to the devastating impact it will have on other Americans, I think they Big three should be given a helping hand. With one condition, the UAW is defanged.

I only say that because One, I know that many Americans livelihood hangs in the balance, nothing more, I could care if the Union Fatso Boss in Detroit ends up in the soup line, I really don’t, he made his bed , and simply fuck him and his cronies, they need to go they are at least 1 3rd of the reasons behind this mess. But the guy on the assembly line he is the one I am concerned with. He is the fellow American my sympathy is centered on, him and his family.

And Secondly, I am a product of the Rust Belt, I remember all too well the disaster that hit the Midwest in states like OH and PA when the domestic Steel industry collapsed under the same sort of pressures as Detroit is facing now.

Detroit built the cars the American consumer wanted, period. To illustrate this point look at the foreign competitors name plates, vehicles like the Tundra, Armada, or even some of the luxury coups from Lexus or Infinity. These are not small vehicles by any stretch of the imagination, yet Toyota and the rest build ‘em by the millions, and they jump off dealers lots by the droves.

Lets compare some facts as complied by the government on two popular cars. Both of these cars are almost identical in power plants, engine size, and amenities.

First off is the Toyota Camary, non, hybrid inline 4 cylinder. Estimated Combined MPG ? 25

Now lets try a Chevy Malibu inline 4 :

Estimated Combined MPG? 26 MPG

Wait a second, the Malibu gets better mileage then the Camary?!?!? Whoa that’s got to be wrong!!!..it isn’t.

Any one that can remember more than 15 seconds of the past, which sadly, I figure about 50 % of the population is woefully remiss in this ability, can easily identify the driving force of the demise of the big three.

It is reliance on OPEC O-I-L and the cost of it’s refining, crushing Union obligations, and our governments heavy handed CAFE laws. over regulation and refusal to allow us to exploit our own resources that destroyed the Big Three, that killed Detroit nothing else.

Tell me then, Pelosi, and her cohorts were all too eager to shut out the lights, and stop the debate over energy last summer as gas hit 4, sometimes 5 bucks a gallon. Remember that? Why did they refuse to debate this critical issue?

Simple, By doing this they have waged a shadow war against Detroit, using popular sentiment as their weapon of choice.
This war was calculated and planned, this is no accident. The Envrio-loons wanted to take the domestic automakers down, and they did. And you Joe Public, by voting for jackles like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi over and over again ……You helped them do it.

This isn’t rocket science people, the politicians like Pelosi, Reid, Obama, et al are in the pockets of the environmentalists, and the Unions. They hate Detroit, and anyone that thinks differently is sadly & woefully ignorant of recent history less than 6 months old.

Case in point when it comes to Pelosi and her gaggle of fellow travelers….Remember the push to “rid the streets” of older cars? That was led by the DEMOCRATS….Anyone? I do, that was the reasoning of the “Don’t crush them restore em” movement.
Now you still want to tell me these people want to “save” the big three…you’re stupid.

These Democrats owe their political careers to the Environmentalists and the Unions, and they simply did nothing when oil shot up to 150 dollars a barrel last summer. They knew full well what was going to happen when people were suddenly forced to spend 400 a month just to fuel their cars to go to work.

They knew full well also that the popular conception in the US is that Foreign name plates get better gas mileage.

End result of their pandering and refusal to allow debate on domestic produced energy?

The American people panicked, they dumped the big Trucks, SUV’s and the heavier cars for the myth of “you get better mileage in an import.”

But wait you say, Why would they destroy the Big Three only to turn right around and try to save them?

Simple; Now they have the Domestic Automakers by their balls, they will, if the bail out goes through, gain a stake in these companies, they will be able to force them to build “environmentally sensitive” cars, it is really that simple.

Want a V8, sorry can’t have it, Want a truck? Sorry can’t have it but we’ve got this cute little Volt over here for you and it’s only 50,000 dollars!!!

Doing what they did, The Unions will stay fat after all they dont give a rats ass what the “workers” build as long as they get thier cut of it, the Democrats can say they “saved” the American auto workers, they appease the greens that elected them, and the people like you and I that may want to have a choice in vehicles we drive , well we can just go pound sand.

Well how did all that planning, hard work, late nights, and seemingly endless infusions of cash  work out you ask?

BTW, All you Acura / Rice rockets / Fast and the Furious with a fart pipe / posers and dreamers, if this thing shows up in your rear view mirror; the car pretty much defines the term “sleeper”….so I’d strongly advise the following.

• Push Turn single lever UP (that means signal a lane change to the right, since half of America seems to have forgotten what a turn signal is for).

• Carefully check your mirrors for any cars and or ESPECIALLY Bikers in you rear quarter.

• Change lanes, and as he passed you, wave, and flash him a thumbs up. That’s all you can do.

But hey, there’s always the brave few that just have to try it ….so to you…..Failure to follow these simple instructions will probably result in, at a  minimum, a very embarrassing ass kicking that only you and Bones will know about, and at worse….. an ass kicking caught on film as your “tuner” gets its ass handed to it and spread all over YouTube for the world to see.
