Here is a possible insert I may purchase for my dash. This is actually for a 69-72 Chevelle

You can find these at: Covans Classics

I’m trying to figure out tho, why there is no cut out for the headlight switch or cigar lighter? It looks the same as my dash except for those two items. I’m not sure this will work, or what mods I need to do so that it will work…..

Nice eh?

**Update 3 April 2008 **

Okay I missed both of these, back to the drawing boards, and trying to find some interior parts…

I am bidding on the one below, with out the shifter.

**Update** 3/29/2008

I didn’t get this one, it finally sold for OVER 700 dollars! With no shifter! So onto the other one, and it has a shifter with it…I can’t believe they pushed the bid on this one past 700.00 without a shifter….proof positive of the Ol saying..”There’s a sucker born every minute”.

1st generation Monte experts will quickly notice these are not Monte Carlo specific consoles.

The Monte Carlo console is trimmed with wood grain inserts rather than the brushed steel.

Since I am not really concerned with the “originality” aspect of the car, I am going to go with the brushed steel over the wood, it is just a matter of preference to me.

Well the bug bit. Spring is right around the corner so I am going to try to make some progress on little things for the car.

I ordered the new Holly Fuel Pump this weekend, and the Monte is going in to have that and the Poly-Graphite front end kit from PST installed. It is also getting a new center link put in.

Before I left, I noticed that the fuel pressure gauge was fluctuating wildly indicating that the pump was on it’s last legs and after the 750 went on under WOT the car fell flat on its ass…not enough fuel making it to the carb.

So 120.00 bucks later and a hi volume unit is on it’s way. Eventually I will convert over to an Electric unit but that is not in the cards right now, I’m still working a lot of the suspension issues.

Next up…upper and lower control arms from Hotchkis. Price tag, 1600.00 OUCH!

Upper Control arms :

Lower Control arms:

I’ve had the PST front end kit sitting waiting to go in since December just haven’t had any way to get the car down to the shop to get the work done. My son Brandon is on his way in from Ohio for spring break, Guess what bud…you get to follow your step-mom down the mountain in the dually…Don’t wreck my new truck. LOL.

Things I’ve learned thus far:

  • Not having a garage bites, I hate letting people do work I know I can do myself. I’m going to pay a dude to install a fuel pump? Lord.
  • Hi-performance parts prices have gone thru the roof!
  • Like computers, no sooner do you buy one part and think you got the cutting edge they will come out with something better! Hotchkis just release an “Extreme Duty” Rear sway bar…I have the “sport” Any-one want a slightly used Hotchkis sport sway bar? Wait till I try to sneak this one by my wife…Aieeee.
  • Trying to get your wife to understand how a carburetor and choke work is not that hard after all.
  • Paitence and me are mortal enemies. I have none.
  • I found a bunch of folks that meet over in Elizabethton TN, all of them Monte fanatics, I can’t wait to meet with them and check out their Montes!

I guess I shouldn’t complain, I am back in the progress category, after almost three months of none at all. So it’s all just part of the journey ….right?

Well yes Virgina, it is. I know between Heller and Obama I’ve done nothing but prattle on about guns and politics…sorry, being in Kuwait makes it tough to get anything meaningful done on the car.

Sadly tho With the tax season and house, like many hot rodders I am a little strapped to spend money on the project for now.

But I did find somthing interesting….I had forgot that I had an old website over on Cardomain and that these pictures were on there.

This was my 1995 Impala SS. Ain’t she sweet? Man how I miss that car! She turned heads everywhere she went with the blacked out glass and evil grumble of a set of Flow Master 40′s under her.

Sadly I sold her to a guy in NC, when I was trying to come up with the money for a house. :(

One of the nice things in FL is they allow for dark window tint, that was as dark as it could be by law, and as you can see, you cannot see inside the car. On a dark color it looks really sweet.

Another look:

So it occured to me that maybe, Just maybe…that Dark Cherry Metallic from the SS would would look pretty good on the Monte Carlo:

I have yet to see those type of rims on a  first gen either so that’s an option to explore, they are 17 inch rims, so I don’t know what it would entail trying to get them to fit a First Generation Monte..but it’s an interesting concept No?
