A debate started over on the First Generation Monte Carlo site about the war, and current events (D.C vs Heller) in the US and It prompted me to write some things here.

I don’t often post anymore about politics, it’s just not something I enjoy anymore because I don’t see anything good in D.C., the current crop of people vying for power, or the future these people envision. Bear with me it’s going to be a long post. I may anger many with my words. I make no apologies for them.

Like some, GWB has made me cringe at times, as has his cabinet, especially early on after 9-11.

Does anyone remember the words, “This war, This crusade will not be won easily” He immediately was denounced in the media for not being PC enough. I sort of chuckled when he said that and thought “Ooops. that’s gonna tick off the Muslims but good”. I’m about as PC as a sledge hammer tho.

I also was furious to have given him another 4 years and have him propose that amnesty for illegals was somehow good for the United States, that was the breaking point for my support of the GOP and Bush. They sided with the multi-culture and Big business crowd and tried to cram something a vast majority of honest hard working Americans DID NOT want down the country’s throat.

Add in the socialist ponzi scheme of ear marks that the GOP allowed to run unfettered and Bush not reigning in an out of control Republican majority in both houses, and I left the GOP. Or maybe I should say as Regan quipped about the Democrats “I didn’t leave the party, they left me”.

I refuse to donate to them and I refuse to vote for 90% of the incumbents now in office. I don’t vote for the “alternative” either, I will not willingly put a communist into office and let’s cut to the chase here, the so called Liberals / Progressives / Socialists / Democrats, all today have the very clearly defined ear marks of Communists.
The GOP paid for that dearly at the ballot box and according to most in funding, and they will continue to pay for it. 2004 was the last year I will ever vote for the “lesser of two evils”. Mccain can count me out, his status as a maverick (read appeaser of the left) and the GOP’s shrilling that I HAVE to vote for him or else, just hardens my resolve even further.

Regardless of the immigration and earmark boondoggles, when it comes to the on going war, GWB told the entire country loudly, repeatedly, and often, this was NOT going to be easy, it was NOT going to be fast, and it was NOT going to be done for many years to come.

Were you asleep? Was American Idol more important?

Americans seem to have the memory span of a gnat somedays and I think that is where I get the most frustration when I hear phrases such as “I don’t agree with the war but I support the troops.”

How? Did you send over a care package to a troop and feel good about yourself for doing so? You can’t have it both ways. Or I hear people bitching about the war. What on earth are you bitching about? What have you done, sacrificed, or had to give up to fight a multiple front war 8000 miles away? Nothing.

Fact: In 2001 GWB had the highest approval ratings of any U.S. President in the nations history. He thumped Clinton, His Father, even Ronald Regan.

And the man told the entire country, it would be a “very long struggle”. Perhaps it was drowned out by the Code Pink and Moveon crowds of screeching so called liberal morons. Hint these people aren’t liberals, they’re Communist. Read the respective web sites for proof.

We seem to have forgotten that part of it, when we rallied behind the man (I use “we” as in the people of the United States) and went after Al Quida, the Taliban and the terrorists elements around the globe, we made a commitment. That commitment was to our continued existence as a people, and as a nation.

Sadly in our 15 second sound bite world we somehow lost that perspective. We’ve once again took our eye off the ball, and we’re now impatient to get back to our little lives and can’t grasp the wider facts of this war, we all focus on Iraq and the “wrongness of it all” and that “the war costs too much”! Really now, Does it?

What’s the cost going to be when a terrorist sets of a Nuke in NYC, or S.F. or D.C.?

When one says the way cost too much, really, what have you, John Q Public, given up to engage in the GWOT? Taxes go up? Nope, Were you asked to buy a war bond, Nope….

In WWII there were rations, everything from gas and sugar to silk, hence the invention of Nylons, which have tortured countless millions of women ever since, and the American population did it. They held fast, they made do, and we kicked the Nazi’s, Italian fascists, and Japans tails but good for them.

Side note here, I was recently reminded of this era in TN when in a little tiny Mom and Pop diner and they had “vinegar pie” …I had never heard such a thing, and I asked the woman that ran the place, “what the heck is a vinegar pie”!?!?
She smiled at me and said “Hon, your far too young to remember, but back in the depression days and then in WWII rations and shortages were common place in these parts, vinegar pies were made because no one could get sugar”. I didn’t brave it.

To continue, Today we have the same type of multiple front war in progress and for the most part Americans haven’t been asked to do much of anything in it at all. There’s no draft, there’s no rationing, there’s not even any interment camps like the country had after Pearl Harbor attacks. Well there’s GITMO and Camp X-ray I suppose but even that pales in comparison.

About the only thing that’s changed is; We bit*h endlessly about airport security and the delays and we wring our hands about the Patriot act and scream that we are “loosing our freedom” are we?

What freedoms have you lost? Jackbooted Black shirted Nazi’s in the streets? Funny I haven’t seen any.

We agonize endlessly about the “rights” of people bent on killing us, people who were CAUGHT red handed on a battlefield trying to kill US service men.

Fact: They violated every single aspect of the Geneva conventions, they wear no uniforms they wear no ranks, and it is clearly stated in the convention that those doing so can be executed. End. Stop. Yet here we are with the highest court in the land debating if these people who by every stretch of the argument should be worm dirt now have US Constitutional rights…it’s madness.

So in closing, I guess I want to ask those that are “tired” of the war, “tired” of the money being spent, those bitching about it and saying they no longer support it or never did…..why are you so tired?

You really haven’t done much of anything at all in the last 5 years now have you? If the money spent on the GWOT is so vast how’s come all the social engineering boondoggles continue unbated, what sacrifices have there been by the American people? ZERO that’s how many.
Still go home to your homes at night, to your wife, your kids, your dog, or your goldfish whatever, and the GWOT rages 8000 miles away. You turn on the TV and tsk about the cost of the war, and shake your head. Your life has changed not one iota, American Idol still comes on, the bills still come every month, you hit a light switch and a light chases away the gloom.

But you’ve done nothing, You’ve sacrifice nothing. Not really.

*** Update *** The BobO files chimes in with this top notch post “Dude where’s my country?!” ….

5-4 vote against the D.C. Gun ban and re-afirming Americans right to keep and bear arms…

Of course the media is keying on the dissenting (read liberal) views….go figure..

“In my view, there simply is no untouchable constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to keep loaded handguns in the house in crime-ridden urban areas.” Says Justice Bryer…

If the 2nd isn’t untouchable I suppose neither is the 1st, the 5th, the 4th etc…..? Doddering old fool.

And our Esteemed CongressCritters? Good Old resident moonbat and all around mad cow Diane Fienstine had this to say:

“I believe the people of this great country will be less safe because of it,”

Really? Well hows about Stuck on Stoopid Ho’s like you let ME decide what makes me and my family more or less safe there snookems….after all when bad bad Leroy Brown comes calling looking to rob my home and kill my family…I’ll certainly tell you how much safer I am or not when he ingests some high velocity lead from .45 ACP and assumes room temperature while the meat wagon comes to pick up the carcass……Mkay? You Daft Cow….

All you Anti Gunners can stuff it. I hope D.C. sees a gunshop EXPLOSION on every god damn corner of the city…after all you socialist snot weasels running that shit hole had the last 22 fucking years to act like a bunch of fucking Nazi clown shoes…and fuck up our nations capital almost beyond repair …..now it’s OUR turn.

All in all…chalk this one up as a day for the good guys!!

Well it’s been a busy time since I got back to TN, most of it I’ve been spending doing mods to the Monte.

Tach went in yesterday (pictures below)

And I finished up the A/C Compresor removal, fan shroud removal and electric fan conversion.

Here’s what it looks like under the hood now. ignore the brackets on the top they are only temps until I can find something better, those are the units from Flex-A-Lite and that’s about as best I could make them work.  Man do those things move some air~!
