While I try to keep my politics and my car hobby apart, sometimes that line gets blurred, especially in light of ongoing problems with the American Automakers.
I debated on if I should post anything here on 454Monte, but in the end decided to keep it over on the political side.
Here is a link to that post if you are so inclined to read about the car makers and the politics that surround them….
UPDATE** I’ve found a neat plug in that allows me to edit the background of posts and create a custom background image, So, having said that, if you see the fighter header from my TNmilitant site, you know that I’ve put something politically based up over there that relates back to 454MOnte.com
I received an E-mail from a gentleman who works for the Mesothelima Asbestos & Awareness center, asking that I provide a link or a post to their website.
I don’t generally post stuff like this, but it does relate to the Monte and other cars in some ways. This is for informational purposes only, I make no claims to the accuracy of the information from maacenter.org,
What does this have to do with a Monte Carlo or any car for that matter you ask?
Asbestos was used in brakes. Breathing brake dust while working on our older cars, could possibly expose one to the effects of Asbestos dust, and cause illness.
Additionally, if you were in the USN as I was, especially on an older ship, you should take time to read their site, and at least educate yourself of the fact that if you worked on an older ship, or in a shipyard during retrofitting (I did both.) You are at increased risk for Mesothelioma.
As one who has already had a brush with cancer, I think this is important information and I hope you take a view minutes to visit their site, the link is provided below.

Been a while since I posted anything, striking politics from this blog sort of left a hole for topics that is sometimes hard to fill.
Let’s face it, unless your rich, buying parts, planning and actually putting anything together takes time, and that time generally gets filled with other mundane daily life issues that really aren’t very interesting to read about.
A few posts ago I mentioned that I had ordered a Rack and Pinion Steering from Unisteer set up for the Monte Carlo, which of course it is still sitting in it’s plastic wrap, waiting on installation.
As I wait on the actual installation phase to start, I also started to look at some additional upgrades for the front suspension.
About the only thing left at this point after putting the Hotchkis and PST stuff in is upper and lower control arms, front spindles, and possibly converting to a coil over adjustable shock arrangement.
In case you’ve lost track, It’s been 16 months in the making for this front suspension and it’s not done yet, but slow and steady wins the race. I made a vow when I bought this car that it would be everything I have always wanted it to be.
There’s a mishmash of parts piled up in my basement, everything from heads, to seats, and it’s all just part of the project, stockpiling planning and then putting it all together.
Anyhow, it looks as if BMR Fabrication will be my choice for this, and I will start to order these parts soon, I might as well finish up this front end while I have it apart to do the Rack and Pinion Installation.
And just to remember the poor Monte that still waits patiently for the new stuff…

It’s one of the most anticipated calenders of the new year and you can see it here!!:
